【What is an Anemometer?】

Anemometers are frequently used in meteorology, aviation, environmental monitoring and even industrial production. They can be used to measure the speed of air currents in the atmosphere or enclosed Spaces, as well as the direction of air currents. There are different types of anemometers on the market, including hot wire anemometers, ultrasonic anemometers and digital anemometers.

Hot wire anemometer is suitable for low speed air flow, can accurate measurement of tiny change of wind speed, so it is suitable for laboratory experiments and indoor ventilation test, it is heated to a constant temperature in a thin metal wire. Working principle: When air passes through the metal wire, it takes away heat, causing a change in the resistance of the metal wire.

Then calculate the wind speed based on the change in resistance. Core is ultrasound, ultrasonic anemometer with high stability and durability, and can measure the three-dimensional wind field data, so it is applicable to high altitude mountains and oceans such harsh outdoor environment. Working principle: It emits ultrasonic signals between sensors, and the wind alters the propagation time of these signals.

Digital anemometer small volume, easy to carry, equipped with display, easy to read the data in real time; Moreover, it is combined with various sensors to adapt to different application scenarios both indoors and outdoors. For instance, cup-type or leaf-type probes can be used for outdoor activities or industrial site inspections.

 

In short, the hot wire anemometer, ultrasonic anemometer and digital anemometer, their different design and function ensure the accurate and in various environment can collect the data of the wind.
